110/6 kV mobile substation for construction of Novolenskaya TPP

SPECENERGO manufactured and delivered a 110/6 kV mobile modular substation (MMS) to supply power for the construction of Novolenskaya thermal power plant (TPP).
The 110/6 kV MMS with a transformer capacity of 16 MVA consists of two modules:

  • The high voltage (HV) module contains a 16 MVA 110/6 kV mobile oil transformer and a gas-insulated switchgear (GiS).
  • The low-voltage (LV) module is designed as a thermally insulated container accommodating 6 kV switchgear cells, substation-wide control room (SCR), auxiliary power cabinets, central signaling and diesel-generator set.

The main advantages of the mobile modular substation are its mobility and complete factory readiness. The substation can be moved on public roads and can pass through areas with difficult terrain. Such a solution considerably simplifies organization of temporary or permanent power supply at remote sites and reduces logistics costs. After installation on site and commissioning, the MMS will be used as a temporary power source during construction of the Novolenskaya TPP.
By 2028, one of Russia’s largest thermal power plants, – the Novolenskaya TPP with a total capacity of 550 MW, will be built in Lensk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The project is implemented by the Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants JSC. The power plant will become the key source of energy supply for the Eastern Range, an important element of the future Eurasian transportation system. Besides, its commissioning will give a powerful impetus to active development of Yakutia’s mineral resources.
