110 kV MMS for Chernogorskaya GRK Limited

The LLC “SPECENERGO” won the tender for the manufacture, installation and commissioning of the mobile modular substation (MMS) MSDS 110/10 kV Vremennaya for Chernogorskaya GRK Limited (part of the Russian Platinum Group of Companies).
MMS (MSDS Vremennaya) with a voltage of 110/10 kV and capacity of 25 MVA will provide electricity for the construction of a mining and metallurgical complex on the basis of Chernogorskoye deposit of platinum group metals. MMS is made as two modules: high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV), installed on semitrailers. The 110 kV HV module contains a 110 kV packaged gas insulation switchgear (PGIS), a 110/10 kV 25 MVA power transformer, PGIS and a power transformer control cabinets.
10 kV LV module, in a container unit, consists of:
  • 10 kV packaged switchgear (PSG);
  • substation control center (SCC) with relay protection and automation systems, automated process control systems, automated electric power fiscal metering system (AEPFM), as well as life support systems (lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning).
For the development of the deposits, a significant argument in favor of choosing MMS is the possibility of manufacturing and setting up a substation in factory conditions, the convenience of its transportation to the most remote and undeveloped areas. The MMS installation in this case is the first stage of the construction of the entire infrastructure of the mining and processing plant. The MMS MSDS Vremennaya is delivered ready-to-operate and is made with the use of modern materials, technologies and engineering solutions that allow eliminating the irrational use of energy resources.
The Facility implementation is carried out in a hard-to-reach area with limited resources (roads, communication lines, communications services). The Chernogorskoye deposit is located 15 km from the urban district “City of Norilsk”, belongs to the list of areas of the Far North and contains more than 140 million tons of ore with a high ratio of platinum group metals – platinum and palladium, which are widely demanded in the modern automotive industry.
